This was my first Mt Lion Hunt and I sure had a great guide. Leroy who is the owner/guide for Sunrise outfitters delivered as expected. Prior to the hunt he kept me up to date on how the season was going assisted with applying for my license and made sure I had everything needed. He returned all calls and went out of his way to make me feel at home. Leroy's dogs were top notch and had plenty in reserve if needed. The real benefit of Leroy's dogs is they are able to track on dry ground or snow, which we had both of. The first day we found three seperate lion tracks which were of mature lions, but only ran one that looked somewhat fresh, but no luck. Second day we found a smoking hot track and after a 3 hr chase had a big tom treed. This is where Leroy got me through a tough situation. I am scared to death of heights and not afraid to admit it, well this lion of course got into some nasty cliffs and then bailed off before being treed. Leroy talked me through the situation and got me down the mountain to my lion in one piece. After I shot the lion it bailed out of a tree and went into a cave where the dogs follwed and kept it bayed until I could finsih it off. Leroy is a top notch guide with years of Lion hunting experience and HE WILL NOT GIVE UP AND GIVE YOU 100% TO GET YOU A LION. I would not hesitate to recommend Leroy and Sunrise outfitters and would hunt with him again in a heartbeat. Leroy also brought plenty of soda/water/powerade and snacks along for out in the field. The first two nights we ate at local resturants in town and the third his brother in law cooked us a homemade meal which was very good. The hotel is warm and comfortable and just the thing you need after a tough day out in the field. You will not go wrong by hunting with Leroy Nelson
