Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

We had a great hunt. My son shot a trophy elk. Unfortunately we did not recover the animal. It is heart breaking but it does happen in bow hunting. The camp was very well run, clean and efficient. The outfitter and his wife and guide (Gilbert) worked exceptional hard to find us an opportunity for a shot and make the hunt enjoyable. The terrain was steep and very thick. We heard and chased elk 4 out of 5 days. Got a lot of snow the last couple days and seemed to slow the rutting activity. Except for the shot my son got we did not have any other shot opportunities. We did come close on 4-5 set ups. We were riding horses down the trail one day and an elk bugled at 25 yards off the trail. That gets your attention. Dennis never hesitated to chase an opportunity for a shot. Several times we jumped off our horses to chase a bugle with a very limited amount of shooting time left in the day. I would highly recommend Bitterroot Outfitters. Tim Noble

Weather Comments:
Beautiful weather the first day, Rained for two days and snowed for two days. Lots of bugles and lots of sign. Like any elk hunt it was physically demanding. I feel that is one of the benefits of Elk hunting. It forces you to get in good physical condition.
