Hunting with Babine Guide Outfitters exceeded my expectations in every category. An avid Midwesterner bow hunter, I booked this hunt for two simple reasons: feed my adventurous spirit and to live my own backcountry experience (not just vicariously through a TV personality). Booking could not have been easier with Jack & Lloyd Hooper. They took the time to answer my questions (as well as ask a few of their own - understanding this is a backcountry goat hunt). Travel logistics were straightforward (Seattle/Vancouver to Smithers, BC followed by short drive to Tukii Lodge). Accommodations, food, fishing and hospitality were all first-class. Economically, I found their rates to be extremely competitive (especially when you add-in sockeye fishing, quality of accommodations, etc). As for the hunt, with all due respect to the goat harvested, Jack and the landscape stole the show. This is big/beautiful country and hunting with Jack was akin to hunting with a close friend. I literally enjoyed every moment (even the 80+lb backpack, aka the ‘good’ kind of weight, hiking out) and can type with confidence that I would be offering the same glowing review if I had come home without a goat. In conclusion, I would submit that I am already booked to be back at Tukii Lodge (with some of my family members) for a spring beer hunt - imo the truest testament of whether a guide has been successsful in achieving the client’s goal (whatever those may be).
