When I booked with Whitetail Heaven Outfitters, I communicated to them that I had no desire to come up there to hunt bucks less than 150 Boone & Crockett inches. My comment to them was that I can do that at home. As a result I was told if I hunted all day, every day that I would see PLENTY of deer and "I would kill a giant". Less than an hour into my first day, I had a respectable 10 point present a shot crossing an cut bean field. From there and by the end of the third day, I had seen 12 bucks, more than 60 doe, but nothing I was interested in taking a shot at. After numerous conversations with my guide, and discussing the possibilty of moving to another farm for my final day, he assured me that the trail camera photos he had sent me the day before were of bucks that had been seen on the property I had been hunting, and that they were still alive. Furthermore, he was abel to convince me that I was on the best farm I could possibly be on, and in one of the best places to harvest an animal like I was holding for. So as it was, on the fourth day I got back in the same stand and hour before daylight that I had been hunting for the past three days, which totaled 39 hours. Somewhat hesitant that I had made the right decision, I had put trust in what my guide was telling me, and little did I know how MONUMENTAL that decision would eventually turn out to be. Only an hour later and shortly after daylight, a true Northern Kentucky monarch came into the open walking step for step with a hot doe. After allowing him to close the distance more than 150 yards I was able to put him down. Now when I shot, I knew he was a good buck, but I had no idea exactly what I had taken. Ever hunter remembers their walk to an animal they know is down, but mine was a mystery until I got to him more than 200 yards away. The closer I got, the bigger the rack got! The closer I got the more tines he had. When I reached the point where he fell, I was in utter shock! Not only had I exceeded my hopes of harvesting a 150+ inch deer, this Kentucky stud had 13 scoreable points and was a main frame 10, a 23 inch outside spred, and gross scored 174 2/8 Boone & Crockett. To add to the shock, he was estimated to be well over 300 lbs. on the hoof, and I later found out the deer was at least 6 1/2 years old upon inspection of the jaw bone. Plainly put folks, this deer was within my grasp the entire time I was hunting with Whitetail Heaven Outfitters. He had been on that farm all along just as my guide had been telling me, and I was in the right spot, on the best farm I could have been on to harvest such an animal just at Matt "Joosy" Murphy (my guide) said. Now I hunt hard whenever and wherever I hunt. That's what the outfitter need from the hunter as a recipe for success. But they also require your trust that they know what they're doing, that they are telling you the truth, and that they are working to get you a deer of a lifetime. Whitetail Heaven Outfitters did all of that and more. I have hunted numerous outfitters over the past few years and still hold a bad taste in my mouth for a lot of them due to the experience I had while hunting their properties. NOT WHITETAIL HEAVEN!!! They delivered exactly what they said they would if I did what I said I would. YES, I made a great shot on this dear at a good distance, but they put me in on a farm and location that held such an animal and that's all you can ask as a hunter, a chip and a chair at the table if you will. Guys this is hunting not killing. Outfitters can't control what you do, how you shoot, how torn up you get when you see antlers, what you're willing to settle for to keep from eating a tag, what the weather does, or anywhere from a dozen to two dozen other things. What they can control is putting you in a location that holds trophy bucks if they know where they are. They did that! Whitetail Heaven Outfitters has a motto, "Nobody Does What We Do", well for me and considering the other outfitters I have hunted with in the past, NOBODY HAS DONE WHAT THEY DID! Still not enough to convince you of the confidence I have in them? Well how about this? I just booked with them for the next three seasons! 2018, 2019, and 2020, and I paid the entire amount up front! I don't know how money is for you guys, but money comes hard earned for me, so to spend that kind of money, that far ahead is the highest vote of confidence I can give them. Do yourself a favor, check them out, roll the dice, give them a chance. If you do your part, hunt hard, long, and persistently, I think you'll be happy with the number of deer you see, the bucks you see, and more than likely the buck you harvest. I'm a WHO fan for life!
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
No, the weather was not a factor. Not the best weather or moon phases for deer hunting, but it didn't really seem to effect the deer movement what so ever.
