Went to cast and blast over the summer on pheasant hunt and had a great time Bob the owner is a great with the dogs. I later decided to cancel my hunt in Illinois and give cast and blast lodge a chance. I was the first hunt of the season and weather was not on our side very warm! I did see one shooter buck that I passed would of been very close to the 135 inch cut off they had. I also seen a 150 inch buck that just never gave me a chance. There were three deer killed during my hunt one great buck and two respectable bucks but not what I was after. I hunted out of millennium hang on stands and they were very nice. The lodge is very nice and clean. All you could drink beer and bottled water. Food was good but didn't blow my mind like it did during the pheasant hunt early spring but was a different cook by the way are cook was super nice she was always asking if we needed anything. John S. the director of operations was great and happy to help in any way. They also had country music singer Abby he put on a private show for the lodge and was great with hunters it broke things up and lifted spirits of the guys who may not of seen as much as the next guy lets face it its hunting not killing! This is only second season they were open I feel they will get better with age based on the talk I had with Bob the owner and his plan not to over hunt and manage deer and promote antler growth. After the hunt Bob called me and my friend that went together and was open to all good and bad suggestions and was more than happy to listen to our input as this is a new location and want to make sure his clients are happy.
