I do not recommend this outfitter

I wanted to share my hunting experience after I read Eric Ramsland's review of Cody Carr's Hunting adventures. Myself and two other friends also hunted with Cody and experienced the same results. I met Cody at the Harrisburg outdoor show the previous year and he also suggested the last two weeks in Montana. When I asked him what type of percentage of success his hunters had, he mentioned he doesn't advertise the success rate. We hunted 4 days in the snow , weather was sunny with the exception of one day of rain. We walked public land, ran into locals on 4 wheeler's, and never saw an Elk. No one in camp that week killed and elk, the previous week 2 elk were killed out of 9 hunters. The guide was a nice guy but no one had any idea where the elk were. We spoke to Cody, he was more concerned about the Moose hunters success he had in camp that week. We gave up on Cody and staff and left camp on the morning of our last day of the hunt. Very expensive lesson learned, we have since been very successful hunting with different outfitters in Montana and Wyoming. Save your money DON'T hunt with Cody.

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

I remember Davids group in camp and this was a tough week. The weather was foggy and rainy on top of snow that was hard as a rock which makes it really loud to walk on. There was sunshine on the last day of the hunt. The moose hunter that week hunted 1 day and shot a B&C moose. Also that week we harvested 2 bull elk, 6 whitetail bucks and 1 mule deer buck. This was a hard week and not our typical fluffy snow. There guide casey had his hands full as David did not want to hike far from the truck on their 5 day hunt. Their guide had been scheduled to guide all three clients at request of their group. This is challenging to do for a guide that does not have clients that do not want to leave the truck very far. They hunted only four days! I wish our hunting was that easy, but clients need to come prepared to hunt hard and be in the best shape for their own abilities. Private land vehicle hunts is more what this group was looking for. I am sorry David did not like his experience, but as an outfitter when you have tough conditions and a client that does not want to push through it is difficult. I am glad David has found a good fit for his hunting style.
