Hunted with Don Cook at Ohio Sportsman Outfitters for the second straight year 2016-2017 Ohio Muzzleloader Season (Jan. 7-10, 2017). Don has exclusive hunting rights to many prime hunting tracks managed for trophy bucks in SE Ohio and works personally with his hunters to put them on the game. Lodging was provided at Chestnut Grove Cottages in Hocking Hills, Ohio - Excellent fully furnished accommodations with hunters providing there own food. Transportation to hunting sites was optional and Don would provide as needed assistance based on hunters physical capabilities and/or desires. Each day we met with Don before and/or after our hunt to review and determine strategy for next outing. He moved us to various properties seeking the caliber of buck we were targeting. Hunts consisted of hunting both bait sites in upland woods and food plots or agricultural fields. In three days, I saw 13 bucks and was able to harvest my biggest buck to date, a mature 10pt bruiser on the 3rd evening of our 4 day hunt that green scored 147" BC - the buck of my dreams!! I highly recommend Don Cook owner/operator of Ohio Sportsman Outfitters - his hands on approach, knowledge of his properties, and wealth of hunting experience has allowed me the opportunity to harvest 2 great bucks in 2 years. I'll be back next year to the Buckeye State...

Weather was very cold on day 1 and 2 with highs of 5-10 F. Days 3 and 4 were more seasonal norms with highs in mid 20s to mid 30s F. We did have rain and high winds the evening of day 4 which did impact deer movement but my hunt was done on day 3.
