I've been elk hunting, some guided, mostly DIY, for 25 years. By far, this was THE best elk hunt I've ever done! All that said, I killed my smallest antlered elk to date. The overall experience was off the charts.

If you are a fly fisherman, the fishing for wild cutthroats right behind camp is worth the price of admission. The horses are hand picked and amazing. The night I killed my bull, we rode down a canyon, in moonless dark, through rock chutes and steep side hill trails without as much as a missed step. A bit intense, but my respect for a good horse went up exponentially after that ride.

Lots of rain.....daytime temps, when sunny, were high 70's. Nights got into low 40's, high 30's. We were camped at 10800 and hunted up to 12000.
