I hunted with IMB in Iowa in late October and early November of 2013. The rut didn't noticeably start until day three of my hunt. The first evening of my hunt I had 20 deer come in bow range! We got 4 inches of rain during days 2 and 3 of my hunt but we stayed out and would see deer as soon as a break in the rain would appear. The outfitter moved us from farm to farm looking for big deer movement. I saw a couple of shooters outside of range a couple of days and was fortanute to harves a 146" 8pt at about 10 yards on the last afternoon of my hunt. I also harvested a nice doe. Several other hunters in camp shot deer. Some hunters were over excited and shot 125" class deer within an hour of getting on stand their first day. I believe they could have done much better if they didn't get excited and shoot the first deer that walked out on them! Because of this, it can be a little misleading when you see smaller bucks that were shot during the season on the IMB website and think that that is all they have to offer. I hope to go back to Iowa soon and will be hunting with IMB in Missouri this year.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
4 inches of rain during two of the five hunt days. The weather the remainder of the hunt was mild.
