Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

In response to some negative comments about hunting the ITB farm called Indian Hill, I found it necessary to respond. Just so happens that I was in camp the same week as the individual who decided to send a very negative review. Please allow me to set the record straight. As a member of the Hoyt/Easton pro-staff, I have had the fortune to hunt for many big game animals in many states with a multitude of outfitters, and I am going on record to say that ITB is an outstanding outfitter for giant midwest Whitetails. I have hunted with them for 7 years now, have taken 3 P&Y bucks, have missed far more than I would like to admit, and have seen so many absolute giants over the years that I have lost count. Many in the 180-200"+ category. Over the years I have gotten to hunt with and get to know many of the guides at ITB, and I must defend Jim Paine who was mentioned in a rather distorted review. In my opinion, Jim Paine is an outstanding guide, and does everything possible to help each of his hunters harvest their best buck to date. I have joined Jim in the spring, and I am so very impressed with the 30-40 stand sites that Jim prepares each year prior to hunters arriving. Jim knows this farm like the back of his hand, and knows exactly where and what to do to support harvesting giant Whitetails no matter what weather/environmental conditions that he is hit with while guiding hunters. This past year, I saw at least 6-8 "shooter" bucks in 1 week while hunting with Jim at Indian Hill, and was lucky enough to harvest a nice 10 point on the 4th day of my hunt. Indian hill in my opinion, is one of the most incredible bowhunting properties you will find in the midwest. Over 1,000 acres, and only 5 hunters per week. A great combination of small blocks of timber, and a considerable amount of agriculture fields. The camp itself is nothing special, but when I am on a midwest Whitetail hunt, all I need is a warm place to sleep and a shower. And I also found the catered food to be very good each evening as I returned from a great day of hunting. Bottom-line, it is sad, that some people seem to have gotten into the sport of bowhunting, and probably should have gotten into a different sport. Bowhunting is on of the most difficult outdoor sports, and it amazes me how some expect to Kill something every time they take a hunting trip, and if they don't harvest a record book giant, they find it necessary to place blame or smear someones name and reputation. I want to personally thank both Steve Phelps and Jim Paine for all of the great hunts and memories that have allowed me to enjoy over the years. Outstanding people, doing an outstanding job each and every year! If you want an outstanding opportunity to bowkill a giant midwest Whitetail, give Steve a call asap. If you are looking for a luxury vacation, with a fancy log cabin, 5 star dining and a 60" flat screen TV, look to some of the other outfitters that set you up in luxury accomodations, at a much higher price, and you see virtually no deer. If you are a serious bowhunter, and truly are in the sport for all of the right reasons, ITB is your Illinois Outfitter of choice! They will work their tails off to help you harverst your best buck ever!
