This was my fifth time hunting with Premier Outfitters and as always everything about the experience was first class. Mark Clifford and his staff are without a doubt some of the best if not the best in the outfitting business. Their level of professionalism and desire for you to not only harvest a trophy buck but have fun doing it is outstanding. One of the many things that keeps me coming back every year besides the fact that the farms are thick with deer is the knowledge of the deer movement Mark and his guides have. The stands are always in great places. My guide knew exactly where the bucks would be entering a cut bean field out of a cutover to check does. He took me to a shooting house overlooking a huge cut bean field that he had been scouting and watching several bucks checking does and that is where I stayed for two days. On the first day I stopped counting deer at 40 with several bucks being 120-130ish but the only bucks chasing were young bucks the two and three year olds were just checking things out and eating. On day two the deer parade continued in the am but still no mature bucks chasing just young bucks, this told me the rut had not kicked in. I saw movement all day but still no explosive action by the big boys I have come to expect hunting the rut at Premier Outfitters in previous years, but as always deer were everywhere. The afternoon had more bucks moving on the field edges and I saw a giant moving in the edge of the cutover but he would not give me a shoot. Several three year old bucks checked does but no chasing. About thirty minutes before dark a four year old came out and offered me a broadside shoot at 195 yards and my third buck from Premier Outfitters hit the ground, a 152 inch 9 point. Even though the rut was late and not on fire during my hunt I still saw more deer than anywhere else I have ever been. I am 66 years old and have hunted all over the country for whitetail at a lot of camps and I can tell you without hesitation that you wont find a better outfitter that knows whitetail hunting than Mark and his guides at Premier Outfitters.
