Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

I arrived on Sunday in NB to hunt with Taz (Mark De Jong) for the 3rd time. Monday arrived and it was windy and rainy. The wife (my camera operator) decided to stay in, not wanting to get the camera wet. I got in stand at 1 p.m. Taz utilizes trail cameras to monitor activity and this bait was getting hit multiple times throughout the day. On my first sit I saw 6 bears including the cub that was in the tree next to my stand when we walked in. Out of the 6 bears there was one really nice bear and at least 2 border line shooters. Due to operator error I was not able to connect successfully with the shooter 250 plus lb. bear. On Tuesday Taz got some good trailcam pics from another stand and I headed there and was in stand by 3:30 p.m. at 6:30 the action started. A small bear came in and fed uncomfortably for 10 minutes. I got some good footage and I always like to see bears regardless of the size. At 6:50 all heck broke lose. I had bears chasing each other around all over the place. I had a good 200-220 bear come in and I tried to get a shot but was never offered a good clean shot. This bear got ran off by another bigger bear that never came to the bait. This bear was big and thick but wouldn’t commit. I think these two spooked each other and I could still hear them running 100 yards away snapping and breaking saplings. I figured my hunt was over after all that noise. 5 minutes later a 200-250 lb. plus bear walks in an never offers a shot. He keeps looking behind the barrel but never moves out from the pine tree that I asked Taz to leave alone for more cover (mistake). This bear ran off and came back 4 times. On the 4th time back in, another bear that is 220 lbs. maybe a little more. This bear was not as thick but was longer and had a big head. The white patch on his chest made my decision easy. I waited for a slight quartering away shot and had a nice hold when I hit the button on my thumb release. I saw the arrow hit home. The bear went 50 yards and no further. I planned on going home with a bigger bear. Taz has plenty of pictures of bigger ones on his trail cams. However I could not pass up a bear of this size with a white blaze. I read something someone on bowsite said. "Never pass a bear on the first day that you would shoot on the last day". Made sense to me. In total I saw 11 different bears in 2 days and 6 were in the 200 lb. plus range. One may have been close to 300 lbs. Out of the 4 times I have been to NB (3 times with Taz). This was the best. Thanks to Taz for a laid back relaxing time. I am waiting on Taz to add some pics for me.
