I recommend this outfitter

My brother, father and I did a self guided mountain goat hunt on Kodiak Island. We used Kingfisher Air (first class by the way) to drop up off at Alpine Cove Cabin and Outfitting. Rick Metzger is the owner of the cabin, which is located on a small piece of private land within the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. We were provided with a very comfortable cabin, with a stove for heat, electric lights, propane burners and even a skinning shed and freezer. We were also able to use a very nice skiff for getting arround the bay to fish and acess different areas to hunt. It was hardly ruffing it, while we were at the cabin. We saw countless goats right from the Cabin, and were able to fill both tags the first day we hunted. Spent one night on the mountain and packed them out the next day. And it was a good thing too, as a storm blew in and had us holed up in the cabin for the next 4 days. The weather put a damper on our plans to chase the local blacktails arround, but I did refine my 3 handed pinochle skills. Did manage to catch tons of Pink Salmon, several silvers, one halibut and gorged ourselves on Dungeness Crab. This was one of the most enjoyable trips I have been on, and I would not hesitate to recommend Rick Metzger and his cabins to anyone looking for mountain goats, blacktail deer, Brown Bears (lots of them) fishing or even duck hunting. Hope to make it back someday.

Weather Comments:
The last four days of our trip it stormed violently. The wind blew strong enough to pick up small stones from the beach and slam them into the cabin. Was very thankful we were not still on the mountain in a tent.....
