I do not recommend this outfitter

Well were to start? We arrive to camp and its about 2 miles off the road. Camp was ok,beds kinda hard and low to the floor. Only one shower and toilet so there was alot of waiting to shower or use the bathroom. Didn't eat breakfast until 9 0r 10, one day may have been 11. Never had lunch fixed for us. dinners were ok. Guides took us to hunting sites in beat up trucks that were dirty and smelly. Drove the truck right up to the baits to drop us off. We were hunting ground blinds that were only 15 yards from bait. Some baits were right next to the roads, one was right next to 95 a major highway. You could watch the traffic go by. Had alot of trucks dirving up and down the roads, people shooting thier guns, talking, bulldozers etc. If you asked the 3 guides the same question you would get 3 different answers. We hunted all week and only 1 bear killed that wasnt even on the bait. Other outfitters were seeing and killing bears except for us. Piss poor operation if you ask me. I not believe his percentages on kill ratios are for baiting. Maybe with dogs and anyone could kill a bear with dogs running it death up a tree. I dont even consider that a fair chase. Also notice they take more than multiple pictures of the same bear with different people to make their website look better. I would not recommend this outfitter to anyone. I would not go back to him if he was the last outfitter around.

Was the outfitter notified of problems? - YES

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

the success of a semi guided hunt depends on the hunter, whether he or she says they hunt depends on their ability to listen .i have read the opinion of the so called hunter, the sad thing, when i express mt thoughts i use my name, it is vincent mastracchio i am a professional maine guide, registered with maine inland fisheries and i am accountable for my actions as a guide as well as my clients.our so called new york friend had visited another guide service he had hunted at previously, talking in our camp about what was killed else where and how 3 rivers should do what that guide service did.this caused a bitter feeling in camp and the thought of satisfying an egotistical child was absolutely not going to happen.my bait sites are 75 yards from working forest roads or in bogs along the 95 corridor, which ever one is the most active, is what we use.after thinking back, our bait season in 2010 was very hot causing most larger black bears to lay up,g5man was the type of hunter, looking for boo-boo to walk out or yogi to say i am smarter than your average bear so he could satisfy his ego with a kill.i am a natural born killer,i seek ,i search ,i find, i hunt hard and deep, trying to provide each client with insight of what an animal does in its own refuge.all of my clients that return year after year, know nothing is guaranteed but they also know we have great woods,we kill some great bear so they listen!!!as for g5 mans opinion on hound hunting,he was told i will not run with a client whose weapon is loaded,or with one that can not think out side a box or accept the fact that the dogs come first, nobody puts my dogs at risk.i decide which bear dies at the tree after all dogs are safe,i decide when a client loads a gun,i decide if a hunter is capable of running with my hounds, egos get flushed down the toilet.hopefully i answered his opinion....but opinions are like assholes...we all have one...they all stink!!!you should require a name on the end of someones opinion...WHETHER ITS TOM OR THOMAS OR PETE OR PETER OR PAUL OR PUNTA...BEFORE ITS POSTED ON BOWSITE.COM, TO ME THIS WOULD SHOW YOUR ACCOUNTABLE PAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
