We were looking for an unguided hunt, basically just looking for access to some great private ground for about ten days during the rut. Jeff gave us just what we were looking for. He gave us three different properties that totaled about 1500 acres. There was three of us in our group and this gave us plenty of room to hunt. Jeff also allowed us to come up in Oct and scout the properties and hang some stands for our November hunt. The largest property also had a very nice lodge overlooking a 15 acre watershed lake. I spent most of my week hunting this property and the other two guys hunted about 5 miles from there on the other properties.

Two out of three killed a nice buck on our trip and the third guy shot a 130 class buck the last afternoon but we were not able to find his deer. He got a complete pass through but very high. We all saw multiple P&Y deer during our ten day hunt. I passed on a 140 class ten pt the third morning which was larger than anything I'd ever killed with my bow. The 7th morning I killed a very nice 140 inch, 11 pt less than half a mile from our hunting lodge. Even better our wives flew up for the last three days of our hunt and my wife was there for the recovery of my best buck ever. Jeff has lots of ground around the Sedan area. He's been guiding here for about 14 years and he's constantly adding new ground. I know he just picked up an additional 1300 acres that should prove to be awesome for some lucky whitetail hunters this 2011 season. Jeff does both guided and unguided hunts, but we went unguided. To me the challenge of scouting, hanging stands, and being patient make the moments of success so much sweeter.
