I will appologize in advance to all for a long report, but too much went bad with this hunt. There were 4 friends with over 120 yrs BOWHUNTING expeience. Met John Mcollum at Pope & Young in Denver April '09. He offered a discount blacktail hunt which we booked paying 50%, promising 3 of us private land, 3 stands each, and opportunities at P&Y caliber bucks. A few weeks later, he let us know he'd added more properties, and a 4th guy was ok. He recommended motels, and we made reservations in June. He sent a letter in July, requesting final payment 8/1, as well as tag fees so he could get them for us. Money was sent. 3 weeks before our hunt, he called to say he'd made reservations at a different motel in a different town to be closer to where we'd hunt. When I called to confirm, there were NO reservations, but was able to get 2 rooms for us. It turned out to be over 20 miles further than the first. When we arrived, we had to drive 130 miles round trip to get our tags. We hunted National forest, not private. We had 3 stands for 4 guys for 2 days, and on the 1st day, mine ended up being under 100 yd from my buddy. We watched each other. We were given only 4 stands total, except for 1 day while they moved/set up stands so we'd have 1 each. I saw a nice buck that day, so they moved a celebrity hunter in with camera man. ! guy had agressive bear threaten him, and was offered a gun for protection, not able to move stands. We left multiple calls/voicemails over several days with NO reply even though he was in contact with his buddy helping us. There was more, but you get the just. Things are not always what they appear. THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE PART OF OUR AGREEMENT THAT WAS HONORED!
