Subterranean Clover | |||||
Subterranean or "Sub" Clover is the name for three species of clovers from the Mediterranean. Sub clover is a slow growing clover that works especially well in the shade. Sub clovers generally grow close to the ground, piling up their biomass in a compact layer. A Mississippi test showed that subclover stolons were about 6, 10 and 17 inches long when the canopy was 5, 7 and 9 inches tall, respectively. It will not tolerate a cold winter and is best suited for southern plots. |
