I pulled a 4 year stint climbing poles for a living. You see some weird stuff. Once had a doe and two fawns laying by a live wire that was 3 foot off the ground. Undoubtedly all three walked up and touched their noses to the wire. No burn marks at all. Had cows walk into a wire and get several. Bobcats, snakes and about every other critter you can think of getting cooked on transformers. You also get people that get track hoes into a wire and get out of the cab, thank goodness for crawlers and not rubber tires. I saw a semi driver get his raised dump bed into 64000 volts and blow his tires out. His pants were so messy he just sat in the truck until line workers showed up, which was a good move. That was before iPhones so no pics.

Where I'm from in Florida, the squirrels will use the power lines to get around from one place to another. Every now and then, one will chew on one of the lines and get electrocuted. You'll hear a loud bang and usually find a squirrel underneath the line he chewed on. His belly will be charred like the deer above. It ain't pretty.....

My dad was a lineman and always told me he made a lot of money off of squirrels (the animals) getting into power lines......

Did he charge you for posting that pic?

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Down in south TX on a drilling rig several years ago. A Mexican had swam the river to hook up power to a pole at the edge of location. The locals came in the next morning raving over the chupacabra that was out on top of the pole very crisp! They truly believed it was a chupacabra up there burnt. Lol

That appears to be small copper wire. It could be transmission voltage, but I doubt it; more than likely distribution level voltage. Either way that stuff will kill you. At T-line voltages, you don't even need to contact the conductor to get fried.
