Wondering if any of you have your cam's out yet? I love to watch them grow! We put them out last week and I can't wait to pull some cards later this week! Let's see what you got

Pat, please share... I would love to see him. We have a few that we are hoping made it through last season. This will be our 2nd season on this new lease and our first being able to plant plots. We only had one on camera last year that was over 150, so hoping that will improve this season!

I left mine out over winter and just pulled the cards yesterday. 4 out of 5 had dead batteries. Grass got too tall in front of one and had 3800 pictures of moving grass. Boring. Couple fawns in my woods and couple coyotes. Can't wait to get a bobcat picture here in SW Ohio. Their here just no pictures yet.

I have had my cameras out since February. I have 2 locations that I track. Both have plenty of does. Here it is June 26th and I have no fawn pictures at all. Seems impossible to me. I have only one coyote pic on either camera but I have a boatload of bear pictures.I mainly hunt Virginia and for the last 3 years I see many more bear then deer.

weekender21 - Curious what country for Axis deer?
Bowdy - Can I ask,,, that buck which looks like he's working a overhead limb of a scrape, is that a Fallow deer or some other species? Is he actually making some kind of a sign post? Once watched a pronghorn buck antelope work a small bush much like a whitetail deer working a scrape, but this was out in the middle of open plains during their rut and I know he was leaving some kind of a signpost, but have never read or heard anything about pronghorns doing so... I know elk and moose will wallow, was just curious of other deer species that scrape during their rut...
Thanks for sharing everybody...

Zbone, yes that is a Fallow Buck and the other photo is of Fallow Does. They are one of six introduced Deer species here in Australia. That particular Buck would be his first head after his spikes from the previous year. The Bucks dig out a scape with a low lying branch above them so they can rub their pre-orbital gland on it to leave their scent, they also urinated in the scape to let other Bucks and Does know that they are in the area. It's amazing to see how many deer come along and smell that over hanging branch in the five day period I had that camera on that particular scrape. The rut was just starting to fire up.

r-man,I never use anything. The cameras are just set on their morning/evening pattern. They will shed their velvet any day and those groups will break up and move,so that will be that.I never use any bait or lure but have set up on kills etc before.I have one spot where a red fox constantly marks a rock and the elk deer and bears often react to that.In the one spot is a spindly old elk rub and the deer and elk have been nuzzling that since the early stages of velvet. That surprised me.One doe even bent it over and straddled it.

Nothing over 2 years old by me (yet). Lots of potential for the future if they can survive deer season from 9/10 to 12/31..... (with 6 allowable buck tags with a variety of weapons).

Little caribou or fallow deer genes in this nice 10 with great potential, I really hope this one survives.

Deer right on the minerals less than minute later... Had that fox been the "other" canine that prolifically roams about these parts, there would not have been a tail in sight!
