I got this guy at 5 yards a couple weeks ago. Huge body blunt roman nose and grey on his muzzle. I figured he was an old deer right at first glance. I kept his jaw after cleaning him to age but it all looks the same to me. Any help in aging would be appreciated all the pics I find look the same to me.

A rough guess would be 4-1/2 yrs old. But I think for about 20 bucks you can mail off one of the incisors to a deer aging service and get the true age.

What did he weigh?

If you have good site that has instructions on aging please post it. I remember Pat had something here years ago that was pretty good but I can't find it. Thanks Good Luck everyone. Wear your harnesses!

I am guessing 3 1/2 years old. The front tooth has good definition.

Web site that might help.

3 to 3.5 is my guess

Id say 3 1/2 as well. The third premolar is a bicuspid which tells you he's at least 2 1/2 and the front tooth does have good definition which makes me believe he's 3 1/2 but there's not much wear at all on the teeth so I wouldn't think he'd be older than that. Best thing to do would be send it in if you want a definitive answer though.

Limited infundibulum wear and last cusp wear indicates 4.5yrs.
