I own a tree farm and have used backpack spayers for over 25 years. By far the best and most comfortable spayer is a Solo made in Germany. They are four gallon units and sold all over the US. They are not cheap probably in the $100 range but worth every penny.

I've owned a dozen different makes/styles/types. I've never found one that could hold a candle to the Birchmeier sprayer. At 2.5x the cost of a Solo, they ought to be good. Mine is 5 years old and gets very frequent use from April to October. It's the very top of the line.

I had nothing but problems with my SOLO. I even bought a second unit figuring I didn't clean the first one out well enough and that one lasted a year as well. I bought them both from Home Depot so maybe I had a cheaper unit.
I now use a rolling sprayer which runs off of my ATV or lawn tractor battery. Not quite as mobile, but it does the job for me.
