Jake's Difficulty Rating

Pronghorn Antelope 0

Jake rated each animal based on three criteria:

1.) degree of training probably required:
2.) element of danger...(either from the expected weather, terrain, or animal)
3.) the cost.

Zero would be the lowest, and three would the highest.

He did not take into account the difficulty involved in taking a P&Y caliber animal (i.e. mule deer, etc).

Jake's Pronghorn Antelope Summary

I have hunted speed goats with a decoy, and by spot and stalk. They can both be quite exciting. If you are going to hunt with a decoy, you had better be ready, because if they decide they don't like that younger buck near their harem, you are going to have a buck in your lap.....right now!! My antelope was shot at twenty yards and covered about 500 paces in 16 seconds after the shot! When we cut him open he had virtually no blood left in his body cavity. Some people had warned me about pronghorn not tasting all that great....but I must disagree. Mine was outstanding. In fact, it was the primary entree at a Christmas dinner party many years ago, and everyone (non-hunters included) really enjoyed it.
